How we keep CityQuest honest: server-side scoring, GPS radius, moderation, and community guidelines.

Server-side scoring

Every point is calculated on our servers, never on your phone. Editing the app locally changes nothing.

GPS radius check

Every quest point has a radius set by its creator. A check-in from outside that radius is rejected.

One-time tokens

Each submission is signed with a single-use token, so repeated or replayed requests are blocked automatically.

Human review

Flagged accounts and photo proofs are reviewed by a moderator before any reward or impact credit is granted.

Community rules

Play from your own account — shared or borrowed logins are not allowed.
Be physically at the quest point. Spoofed or mock locations are prohibited.
Upload only your own photos, taken during the quest.
Do not share answers, codes, or screenshots that let others skip steps.
Report bugs instead of exploiting them — reporters keep their score, exploiters do not.

How we verify impact

Every kilogram of litter, every tree planted, every volunteer hour is submitted with a photo and a GPS fix, then reviewed by a human admin before it counts. Only verified numbers are published — the totals you see on /impact are what passed moderation, not what was merely claimed.

Schools and minors

We are GDPR-first. Classroom accounts store only what teachers need: a pseudonymous display name, class assignments, and quest progress. No marketing, no third-party tracking, no profile-building on children. Parents and teachers can request export or erasure at any time.

Creator terms

Quest creators earn a 70/30 revenue split (70% to creator). Verified creators get a badge after a manual review of their first three published quests. Payouts run on a monthly schedule via Stripe Connect.
